When I run SDDSplot, I just get sh: mpl_motif: command not found

Is mpl_motif in your PATH? If you type "which mpl_motif" it will tell you the location of mpl_motif if it is in your PATH. If it isn't, or if it isn't set as executable (chmod a+x mpl_motif), then you will get that error message.

Problem solved, thanks so much for the help.

I looked harder at my path and discovered a sneaky ~ in my .profile, where none should be.
