Dear Michael,
When trying to generate an energy modulation upon a (given) bunch distribution, I know "smoothDist6s" has an option -energyMod (in %), but, in user manual, it is noted the wavelength is fixed at 1 um. Why can we not adjust the modulation wavelength?
Thanks,
Cheng-Ying

Dear Cheng-Ying,
Please see the example command below
Alex.
Please see the example command below
Code: Select all
smoothDist6s -input test.bun -output stest350_0.6.bun -rippleWavelength 0.6 -factor 1 -rippleAmplitude 50 -energyMod 0
Re: about imposing energy modulation in a bunch
Hi, Alex
It seems like the example command does density modulation (with amplitude 50%, wavelength 0.6 um) instead of energy modulation. (?)

Dear Cheng-Ying,
Yes, you are correct. The parameter -energyMod can specify energy modulation in %. In my example it was set to 0.
Also, -rippleWavelength is the ripple wavelength in microns and -rippleAmplitude is in %. Hope, it helps.
Alex.

Re: about imposing energy modulation in a bunch
Dear Alex,
Thanks for your reply. Do you have any idea how to (correctly) impose energy modulation in a bunch? I am still confused by the description "energyMod" in user manual (and why is it fixed at 1 um). Or, can anyone give more hints?
Thanks!
