Hi,
My need is to increase the number of particles described, for example, in a Parmela output file, just filling the phase space as it is. Can you give me some hints or a "good" recipe to do it, for numerical shot noise reduction in view of microbunching instability simulations?
Thanks a lot!
Cristina

Re: increase number of particles starting from an existing file
Cristina,
There is a script distributed with elegant that will do this. It is called "smoothDist6s". If you just type "smoothDist6s<return>" you should get a usage message. It not only allows multiplying the number of particles, but also optionally adds density and energy ripple.
