I'll look into getting this to work without needing this path name conversion.

I have modified the code for the next release so that it will not longer need to convert it to short path name without spaces.

Bob,

Thanks for the help!

Turns out 8dot3 was enabled for c: but disabled gloablly (?!) so there was the problem.

Changed the global registry flag, reinstalled, and working great.

Glitch with 64-bit sddsplot

Post by lewellen » 29 May 2013, 14:53

Hi, Bob,

I just found one other glitch with the 64-bit sddsplot when attempting to generate image files. I'm posting it here rather than under "bugs" because this is where we started the discussion. Anyway...

sddsplot -col=f,FFTfrequency L01-BCb.fft -device=png,onwhite -output=L01-BCb.png

will make a file called L01-BCb.png, but it has zero length.

if I use sddsplot to display the plot, and then try to use File --> Save As... to save as a png, I again get a zero-length file and the plot window closes all by itself (bombs).

The issue appears limited to png files; I can create PostScript and eps files with no issues, either from the command line or from the plot window. I can work reasonably well with eps files so this isn't a pressing issue for me; but I thought you should know about it.

Cheers,

- John L.

Interesting. Can you send me the file you are trying to plot? I am able to create png files both ways without a problem on my system with the 64bit version of sddsplot. Btw, the official (non-beta) version of Elegant for 64bit windows is now on the software download page.

This is working for me, but I am running a slightly newer version of sddsplot. Can you download and install
http://www.aps.anl.gov/asd/oag/download ... it-x64.msi
I really don't think this will solve the problem but at least I know you are running the same version as me.

If you still have the problem can you download Dependency Walker from:
http://www.dependencywalker.com/depends22_x64.zip
Unpack this and run the depends.exe program.
Then use it to open c:\Program Files\APS\SDDS ToolKit 64\sddsplot.exe
Save click "File->Save As" change the type to "Text (*txt)" and send me the resulting output file.
Using this I might be able to see if there is something different about your system causing the problem.

Thanks, Bob.

At the moment, I have some MaRIE runs queued up and running; since using eps files is a workable alternative at the moment, I'd rather not interrupt them right now, but I will try this by the end of the week.

Cheers,
