Compounds and MATTER element

Dear Michael,

I'm trying to simulate a thin foil in the beam line, e.g. a Kapton.

The manual says, for thin materials one should provide A and Z (also rho) in addition to X0.
What is the meaning of these for a compound? (molecule)
Is it the average over the atoms which the molecule consists of? (sth like effective A/Z). Mass-weighted?

Thanks!
Slava

Slava,

The MATTER element was really not intended to simulate compounds, but only elements. If you are interested in compounds, I suggest using the program 'shower', which is also available from our web site. It can be interfaced to elegant using the SCRIPT element. See the 'elegantShower' example in the examples file.
