astra2elegant conversion

Post by Qin » 30 Aug 2016, 15:05

HI Michael,

I am using astra2elegant to convert Astra output to Elegant input. I found that the longitudinal dimension t is reversed ( bunch head and tail exchanged compared to astra result ) after using this script. So looks like there is a minus sign added when converting astra output to elegant, right ?

Thanks,
Qin

Qin,

Elegant uses the convention that larger t means later arrival time. ASTRA uses the opposite sign convention, as I understand it.

By the way, the latest version of astra2elegant is a compiled program, not a script. Some versions of the script had bugs. To be sure you have the latest version, type "astra2elegant". It should respond with a usage message including "This is version 3, August 2011."

HI Michael,
Thanks, looks like I understand it right. And thank you for reminding the version issue. I am using the latest one.

Best,
Qin
