sddsemitproc results

Post by mjoyce » 16 Oct 2008, 13:23

Mike,
How can I determine whether or not to trust my sddsemitproc results? Should I aim for a percentage of "good fits?" Or is there another indicator? I can plot the fit, of course, but that doesn't tell me if it's good enough for sddsemitproc...
Thanks,
Michele

Michele,

Unfortunately, there's no hard and fast rule. I think if you are getting more than a small percentage of bad fits, then there is something wrong with the data and it should be treated with suspicion. However, you may get valid fits even when the data is of poor quality. In this case, looking at the error bars on the emittance (exStDev and eyStDev) should tell you if there is a problem. If the error bar is more than about 10% of the value, then you have to be suspicious. Similarly, you should look at the error bars on the betax and betay values.
