Hi,

I would like to simulate a quad scan in which the beamline has a (vertical) chicane between the quadrupole and the observation point. In the newest manual (that I could find) there is no indication of the -includeDispersion option. Also, I'm not quite sure of how it works;I must have to include more information in the input file, right? That is, given R11, R12, R33, R34, Sx, Sy, I'm not sure how adding the option to include the dispersion would alter the analysis.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
chris

Chris,

The includeDispersion option doesn't work well and is deprecated. The hope was that it would be able to determine emittance and energy spread for a beamline with bending. However, I managed to convince myself that the problem didn't have a unique solution.

My suggestion is to remove the dispersive beamsize from the data ahead of time, using prior knowledge of the energy spread and the dispersion as a function of the quad settings.

Okay, will do. Thanks Michael.
