The Accelerator Systems Division of the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory is offering a post-doc position in the Accelerator Operations and Physics Group to perform research related to next-generation storage ring light sources. We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong background in storage ring simulation and nonlinear dynamics for participation in a new initiative to explore the feasibility of an ultra-low-emittance multi-bend-achromat lattice for the Advanced Photon Source.

Good knowledge of storage ring physics, particularly linear optics, nonlinear dynamics, beam lifetime estimation, and beam injection is required. Ability to perform complex simulations within a Linux environment using the program ELEGANT is also required. Knowledge of collective effects in storage rings is also desirable, as is experience developing simulation software.
