Hello,
im trying to use the FMULT element instead the QUAD because i want to include higher multipoles.
I followed the instructions of the manual and created a sdds file with the multipole coefficients.
I expect if only the coefficient of the quadrupol is non zero in the file then the effects would be like a normal QUAD element.
Is that right? Elegant does not return any error message but when i try to plot the beta and alpha functions it seems the FMULT element does not affect the functions.
So how can i simulate a quadrupol with the FMULT element?
I attached a simple example in a zip file.
run should execute elegant and returns plots.
Thank you in advance.
Oliver Stein
Im using elegant 24.1.3 on a Windows System.

Re: How to use FMULT for multipole elements?
Oliver,
Unfortunately, the FMULT element doesn't have any effect on optics. It it really intended for tracking only. You should be able to do what you want using the KQUAD element. The SYSTEMATIC_MULTIPOLES parameter will allow providing information on the higher multipoles.
