Combined magnet

Post by hsayed » 11 Aug 2009, 14:34

Is there an element in Elegant that can work as a triple combined magnet (= Quad+Sext+Oct) ?
I have used KQUSE for Quad+ Sext but I would like to have an Octu. filed as well along the same magnet

Thanks
Hisham

Hisham,

Unfortunately there's no element that combines all of those fields conveniently. There are two options:

* Add two zero-length MULT elements on either side of the KQUSE element. Set ORDER=3 to get octupole field.

* Use KQUAD, and specify the sextupole and octupole fields using the SYSTEMATIC_MULTIPOLES input file. It isn't convenient because you can't change the sextupole and octupole strength, but may work depending on your application.

I'll add this to my list as an upgrade for KQUSE.
