Closed orbit calculation with BMXYZ elements

Post by duanz » 13 Aug 2019, 04:25

Dear Michael and all,

I included in a ring lattice two BMXYZ elements each with a 3-D field map, and wanted to study the effect of these field maps on the closed orbit, emittance, etc. One thing I couldn't understand now is that the second BMXYZ element seems to have no effect on the closed orbit. I wonder if there are any mistakes in my setting. The example tarball is attached. Thanks!

Duan,

When I run your test with the latest version of elegant, I see a closed orbit change from both devices. There was a bug in older versions when multiple BMXYZ elements were used, which I think is responsible for the problem you reported.

Please try with the latest version and let me know if the problem persists.
