impact of Kicker element in the optical functions

Post by Hossein_Ghasem » 04 Feb 2022, 10:51

Hi Michael,

My question is about impact of kicker element in the optical functions. I have defined few kicker elements with certain values of HKICK in the lattice file but elegant can't find any periodic solutions for the optical functions and once I switch them off, it can. I tried AT2 code and with the same values of HCKIK in the kickers, it could find periodic optics. Do you know why? I also tested EKICKER but I got the same answer. The lattice is in the attachment.

Many thanks in advance
Hossein

Hossein,

It seems to work fine once I modify the twiss_output command so that it is performed after the closed orbit.

The twiss_output command can work in one of two modes: minor action and setup. In minor action mode (the default), it immediately computes the twiss parameters, while in setup mode (output_at_each_step=1), it only sets up the calculation to be performed later. You want to use setup mode so that errors, closed orbit, etc are included.

See the attached file for a working example.

Hi Michael,

Many thanks for the reply. It's working now.
