Thanks Michael!

I'm trying to run the scripts.

Dear Michael,

I would like to calculate the eddy current effects by energy ramping in a booster.
Can you give me some hints or if you have some examples to share with me it would be wonderful.

Many thanks in advance,
Samira

Ray,

Using your files, I made a nicely-packaged example that can be run with minimum effort. I compute the rf waveforms from scratch based on the momentum ramp and scaling of the energy loss etc.

See the attached tar file. As usual, it probably won't work without modification on Windows.

This Rampling example no longer runs on the newer versions of elegant!
The sdds waveforms for RAMPRF element are not "accepted" for tracking

The example works on an old version (elegant 24.1.3 Sep 6 2011) without any errors.
Please could you check for bugs? The Ramping example is still used by facilities throughout the world so thanks again.

Terry

2 types of warnings were recorded:
360* RAMPRF frequency is less than 1kHz.
360* RAMPRF voltage is less than 100V.

Terry,

I am running it now and it seems to work. Can you update to the latest version and confirm that there is a problem?

Also, any details you can provide about the system you are using would help.

Dear Micheal

Thankyou for checking the most recent version for bugs. Everything works fine now except:
If the actual values are used in the ramp (as suggested in the manual) the warning “voltage is less than 100V…“ is given every turn
If we use the ratio values, there are no warnings.
Both end results appear at first glance to be the same and meet our expectations.
We use elegant version 2023.3.0 (ubuntu)

Kind regards
Terry
