like the MAD8 way using the deltaP parameter?

of course...
I think MAD made the assumption that for small energy deviations
scaling eg the k-value of a quad is the same like changing the energy of the particle
The scaling is implemented as following:
k_quad => k_quad / (1+deltaE)
and for a bend the implementation is done a little bit more complicated.

Sorry for mixing up the parameters names
deltaP==deltaE : the momentum deviation (energy deviation)
deltaP==deltaE : the momentum deviation (energy deviation)
