Transversal Fiducialization

Post by dpe » 27 Jun 2012, 09:09

Dear Michael and all,

I'm traking a strange-distribution-traked bunch in a straight linac using sdds_beam. When I looked at the X and Y centroids along the linac I noticed that are not zeros (neither at the beginning) and that they vary with the s coordinate.

I'm now trying to understand how the fiducialization is made in this case and what is the reference of the centroids.

Thanks for the assistance.

By default, elegant references the initial transverse coordinates to the ideal coordinate system at the start of the accelerator. If you want to center your beam prior to tracking, use center_transversely=1 in &sdds_beam. This will move the beam transversely so that <x> = <y> = <x'> = <y'> = 0.
