aperture

Post by Philippe Piot » 09 Jul 2010, 06:17

Hello,
Is it possible in ELEGANT to define an "overall" aperture so that particles not within this aperture w.r.t. the reference particle *anywhere* along the beamline are lost? Right now the way I do this is to include many collimators along the beamline. I am trying to look at where particle are lost along the beamline after being scattered by an aluminum foil. Thanks! -- Philippe.

Philippe,

Yes, you can do this with the MAXAMP element. It sets the aperture for all downstream elements, until overridden by another MAXAMP.
