install elegant 25.0 with rpm

Post by ding » 11 Apr 2012, 14:53

Hello Dear Friends,

I am installing elegant 25.0 64-bit with the rpm file. It complains that "file /usr/bin/sddssyncflux from install of elegant-25.0.3-1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package SDDSToolKit-2.9-3.x86_64". Since I didn't see the rpm file for sdds 2.10 on the web, I didn't install the 2.10 version from the source code. And my present sdds is 2.9 version. my machine is RHEL5.

So what is the easy solution for that? I am afraid to install SDDS 2.10 with the source. Is there going to be an rpm available soon for sdds 2.10?

Actually what I want right now is the new version of sddsmatchtwiss with the option of save_matrices. If you can just send me one compiled new version of sddsmatchtwiss to use in RHEL5, it would be great.

Thanks, as always,

Yuantao Ding

There won't be a binary release of 2.10 because it was just a release to remove some GPL code that we won't be distributing any more.

As for sddssyncflux, this program was just moved from the SDDSToolKit RPM to the elegant RPM. It is the same program though. You can install it over the other RPM using the --force option.

I forgot to mention that once you install this with the --force option, that you will then have the newer version of sddsmatchtwiss that you are looking for.
