Re: Linear matrix not the same for ILmatrix and full lattice

Thank you, Michael. I also expect that these terms can be neglected in the end. I tried to compare the map from ILMatrix to what has been implemented in mbtrack and there these terms seem to have been neglected completely. I am still working on checking so that's a valid thing to do for my lattice, ...

Re: Linear matrix not the same for ILmatrix and full lattice

Hi Michael,

Okay, good. Thank you. Then I understand where the difference comes from. For the terms including non-zero alpha I use the reference "J. Bengtsson, “A Hamiltonian Approach to Collective Phenomena”, to be. publ."

Best regards,

Re: Linear matrix not the same for ILmatrix and full lattice

Hi Michael, I think it's the other way around. For a symplectic matrix I expect to have: M16 = dx M26 = d'x M51 = M11*d'x - M21*dx M52 = M12*d'x - M22*dx This I have for the full lattice matrix, but not for the ILMatrix matrix. I'm wondering if it might have to do with that the lattice I'm using doe...

Linear matrix not the same for ILmatrix and full lattice

Hi, I compared the linear matrix I get from matrix_output for the full lattice and for the lattice using ILMatrix, but the 51 and 52 terms are not the same. Is this to be expected or have I done something wrong? To me this feels like using the ILMatrix means the tracking isn't completely symplectic?...

Output from frequency_map doesn't agree with tracking

Hi, I am trying to construct an ILMatrix using the output from frequency_map to get the tune and and amplitude-dependent tune shifts from tracking, but the output I get doesn't agree with what I expect or what I get by doing a FFT on the output from track. To test I tried running frequency_map for o...

Re: Coupling with ILMatrix element

Thank you, Michael. I was actually thinking about the TILT parameter and if that could possibly be used to get coupling. For my purpose I don't think it is so important to be able to figure out beforehand what the tilt should be since I just want to set it so I get a certain equilibrium vertical emi...

Coupling with ILMatrix element

Hi all, I want to simulate IBS using the IBScatter element, but I would like to do it using ILMatrix to speed up the computations. However, I would also like to include coupling in the simulation and I am not really sure about the best way to do that. I have attempted to introduce coupling in my lat...

Re: Longitudinal tracking using sdds_beam

I am using the parallel version and I realised what the problem is. I cannot use more cores than I have particles per bunch. I was running on 10 cores and then problems occurred when having fewer particles than 10. I reduced the number of cores and now it seems to work fine :)

Best regards,

Re: Longitudinal tracking using sdds_beam

Thank you, Michael. That fixed the problem when tracking with many particles. Now I can track two bunches with 1000 particles without them getting lost. However, the problem when only tracking with few particles seems to be something else because it occurs also if my ring only consist of an Ilmatrix...

Longitudinal tracking using sdds_beam

Hi, I want to use elegant to do longitudinal tracking of different fill patterns with a passive harmonic cavity. I am attempting to modify the APS-24Bunch-CBI for my case. For testing I have started with no harmonic cavity and the main cavities without beam loading by using RFCA. So far I have manag...
