Understanding Low CSR Emittance Growth
Hi Michael, I have been working on this lattice ffor a while now. Its quite simple: Start with a gaussian distribution. Accelerate it through x-band cavities (giving it a energy chirp). Compress with a 4-bend chicane. I start with a 1um emittance and end with ~2um emittance, though my analytical cal...

CSRCSBEND SIGSEGVProgram Problem
Hi Michael, I am trying to simulate some CSR studies within a 2ns delay chicane. The set up is simple enough but I keep running into the "IGSEGVProgram" error. Checking the *.cen file I noticed I was losing a ton of particles through out the chicane. Any suggestions? I have been adjusting the bin si...

Re: Help Simulating Bunch Compressor & Chirp
HI Michael, Yes, I was afraid that would be the result...because no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to compress to that bunch length. My goal was to study the compression of the bunch without any upstream (before the compressor) effects (space charge, CSR, ISR, wakefields...etc). What I did to...

Re: Help Simulating Bunch Compressor & Chirp
Hi Michael, I'm trying to simulate a beamline that I already have up to the compressor; I'd like to keep the BC parameters constant but still have the same amount of compression. I know how to do this with the RF cavities before the BC, but now that I have deleted them and I am generating a gaussian...

Large discrepancy between ECNX & ENX
Hi All,
Pretty curious over some odd data. I basically have some accelerating structures and a chicane (standard 4-dipole), despite the fact that the dispersion is cancelling at the end of the chicane the ENX>>ECNX.
Any ideas of what could be causing the discrepancy between the ecnx and enx?

Understanding "CSRconstant" in CSBEND.c
Hi All, I am trying to better understand the CSR calculations involved in Elegant. I am unfortunatley getting a little mixed up with all the different unit conventions being quoted: 1. In the Saldin 95 (http://cds.cern.ch/record/291102?ln=en) treatment they use: (-2Ne^2) / ((3r^2)^1/3) which is in C...

Scan quads to match phase advance?
Hi All, Sorry I didn't know which forum to put this in because it seems like a scanning/matching/optimization question. Anyways, I was wondering if there was an example or if one can direct me to how I would go about: -Having Elegant scan a specified number of quads (and their strengths, "K") to ach...
