ZLONGIT reads in impedance file wrong
Hi, I have a problem with the <filename>=<x>+<y> format when using the ZLONGIT element. I have a SDDS file with three columns, Freq, RealZ and ImagZ corresponding to the frequency, real and imaginary part of an impedance. Even if I specify that that ZREAL and ZIMAG should use different columns it se...

Re: IDSlotsPerBunch for non-uniform fill pattern
Thank you, Michael. That script is exactly what I needed!
Ah. Then I understand the use of IDSlotsPerBunch. I was worried that it had to correspond to the number of particles I have in the bunch and that all ID values have to exist in the beam.
Best regards,
Teresia

IDSlotsPerBunch for non-uniform fill pattern
Hi, I'm trying to generate a beam for a non-uniform fill pattern that can be imported using sdds_beam. If I have understood correctly, the best way of getting different charge in different bunches is to use a charge element and create the bunches with different number of particles, but I'm not sure ...

Re: Fast tracking between non-periodic positions
Hi Michael, Thank you. Those are very good ideas. I will try them and see which works best for our lattice. In case it helps to make ILMATRIX more general, I think the equivalent to ILMATRIX in AT (fastring) can split the ring at any position, but the idea behind that element might be slightly diffe...

Fast tracking between non-periodic positions
Hi, I am trying to simulate ion instabilities and would like to place ion elements within a periodic cell. Since the execution time with element-by-element tracking is long I was hoping to speed it up by splitting the ring into several ILMATRIX elements, but it seems ILMATRIX can only be used to spl...

MPI version for version 2020.5.0
Hi, We have tried to build Elegant version 2020.5.0 at Diamond, but run into some odd issues which we think is related to MPI. So far it seems to only happen when running with ion_effects. The simulation starts and everything seems perfectly fine for 1000 turns or so, but when running more turns sud...

Re: Placement of IONEFFECTS elements
Thank you. Then I will try the gaussian method with more interaction points and see if I manage to get something I think make sense. I will let you know how I get on. It is very nice of you to offer to look at the results

Re: Placement of IONEFFECTS elements
Hi, Okay, thank you. Then I won't worry about that. I also thought I better start with the gaussian method, but the results looked so strange that I thought perhaps it wasn't good enough. At the moment I get similar results independent of gap length. Even with a single very long gap I don't see any ...

Re: Placement of IONEFFECTS elements
Hi Joe, Thank you. Then I guess I need to do some tests and see which positions I need to get convergence of the results. I also have another question now. I am trying to use the bigaussian fit and I haven't given any other values than the default. It seems to kind of work (I get histograms and fits...

Placement of IONEFFECTS elements
Hi, I am trying to simulate ion instabilities for different fill patterns. Thank you so much for providing the ionEffects1 example and a lot of comments in the manual for how to it. Those are very helpful. I however have a question about the reasoning behind where to place the IONEFFECTS elements. L...
