user defined variable as optimisation variable
Hi Michael et al, let's say I defined a variable in the lattice file and used it for several elements. Can I use this variable as optimisation variable? For example, .lte file: Q1: K1=1,L=myVariable Q2: K1=2,L=myVariable .ele file: <say that myVariable should be varied> Of course one could do: &opti...

Re: eps figure size from sddsplot
Edit: I found how to produce large plots with png device (say device=lpng) but the resolution is still not great.
How do I control the graphic resolution?
Thanks!
S.

eps figure size from sddsplot
Hi Michael, another stupid question: how do I control the figure size ("paper size") when using, say, the -device=ceps? (sorry couldn't find it in the manual..) So far I'm always getting quite small plots which are not so high quality if one zoomes in. This file should illustrate the problem: http:/...

hdf2sdds problem
Michael, I'm trying to convert HDF5 file to SDDS with the following command: hdf2sdds RAW-injected-electrons-001510.h5 RAW-injected-electrons-001510.sdds It terminates with the error message: unable to convert HDF file of 1 dimensions What am I doing wrong? Or is it not possible to convert such a fi...

Re: Large Momentum Offsets in ELEGANT
Michael, the manual says that SEXT and QUAD are up to 3rd order. Anyway, I tried to use both kick elements (KQUAD) and matrix ones (QUAD) and tracking results are very similar (I set momentum spread to 10%). At which point would you expect inaccurate results using elements implemented as matrices? T...

Minimizing maximum beam size in a lattice
Michael, I'd like to optimize the lattice in such a way that the maximum beam size along the whole lattice is not exceeding a certain value. Just minimising beta function won't work (I'm dealing with beams having large energy spread) so I really need access to beam size from tracking. Is there a bui...

Details on Simplex Algorithm in ELEGANT
Dear all, sorry if this is a trivial question. I'm interested in details of how the simplex algorithm as implemented in ELEGANT works. Is it absolutely standard i.e. can be looked up in any book, or are there perhaps some variations and ELEGANT uses one of them? In the latter case, could you please ...

Combined function magnets?
Dear Michael,
as title indicates: is there a possibility to simulate combined function magnets in ELEGANT?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
