LEUTL Compression Question
Hi Michael, I am investigating the CSR effect in the LEUTL beamline (attached are the *.lte and *.ele files). My first step is to compress the bunch as much as possible in the bunch compressor to exacerbate CSR. I am having trouble doing this and I am only able to get down to ~300um (Yine has told m...

Advice On Calculating Second Order Correlations?
Greetings, I am interested in calculating second order correlations between the energy deviation and longitudinal position (namely......<s*delta*delta>), I looked throughout the Elegant manual and outputs but there does not seem to be any data on this. Does any one know o an tricks or shortcuts to f...

Re: Understanding Low CSR Emittance Growth
Thanks for the reply Michael! Greatly appreciated...
...follow up question: Is there anyway I could cut the tail of the particle distribution, say at the entrance of the 3rd bend??
Thanks again

Discrepancy between {R16,R26} & {etax,etaxp} & R56?
HI All, For the given lattice (simple accelerating section to chicane) the data from the R-matrix output file does not match well with the twiss output file: 1. etax does not equal R16 2. etaxp does not equal R26 3. The R56 values throughout the chicane at the end (the only source of R56 and R16) of...

Re: Understanding Low CSR Emittance Growth
Hi Michael, So, Ive been looking at this issue for a little while and think I may have some idea: The strong compression causes a long tail towards the end of the compression cycle (Bends 3 & 4). So, when the user defines the BINS for the CSRSBEND element Elegant calculates the BinSize according to ...

Re: Large discrepancy between ECNX & ENX
Hi Michael,
So, the ECNX over compensates and subtracts off these CSR-induced correlations? Am I correct in stating that in this case ENX would be a more accurate depiction of the transverse emittance?
Thanks

Re: Understanding Low CSR Emittance Growth
Hmmm, interesting...thanks for your help Michael. I was wondering does turning off smoothing increase accuracy of results? Also, I have a feeling that the long tailed distribution this *.lte file creates is the cause of the low CSR. I am looking into it and working it into my analytical calculations.
