Michael,
You're right, it isn't on the page linking the manual. I mistakenly thought it was.
Sorry for the confusion.

Re: gross n00b question: where are the examples?
Michael,
You can find the examples file linked from the documentation and the software download web pages, not the manual itself. It's
http://www.aps.anl.gov/Accelerator_Syst ... les.tar.gz

Re: Twiss output in the absence of &track command
Michael, The setup/action command distinction is admittedly confusing and not well explained in the manual. An "action" command causes elegant to immediately perform a specific computation or set of computations. In contrast, a "setup" command tells elegant how to perform computations when it later ...

elegant2astra
Christopher Behrens pointed out that the elegant2astra script distributed with elegant also had some problems. I've fixed these and attach the new version here. Thanks to Christopher for bringing this to my attention and checking the new version. --Michael (Sorry I had to gzip the file, even though ...

Re: File becomes locked after initial run of Pelegant
Unfortunately, I'm unable to duplicate the problem. I ran Pelegant with your input files using a local drive on my desktop, as well as on a cluster using NFS. In both cases the run completed normally and created all the files.

Re: File becomes locked after initial run of Pelegant
Can you supply the wake_bc1.sdds file and any other required files so I can run this?
Thanks--Michael

bug in astra2elegant
There is a bug in the astra2elegant script that will show up in particular for very long bunches. The bug results from not accounting for the fact that the output file from ASTRA is a snapshot of the beam at a fixed time rather than a record of particle coordinates crossing a fixed z plane. Attached...

Re: Ramping
Ray,
Glad to hear you got it working. By the way, here's a movie I made of a ramp from 200 MeV to 3 GeV

Re: Ramping
Ray, Using your files, I made a nicely-packaged example that can be run with minimum effort. I compute the rf waveforms from scratch based on the momentum ramp and scaling of the energy loss etc. See the attached tar file. As usual, it probably won't work without modification on Windows. --Michael

Re: Ramping
Ray, The main problem I see with your files is that you're syntax is wrong for giving the ramp information. You need to use the form VOLT_WAVEFORM="<filename>=<timeName>+<ratioName>". You are not giving the column names, and your files have absolute values rather ratios or offsets as required. See t...
