Re: what's wrong with simulation of transport line orbit correct

Shancai,

I don't see any obvious problems in the log file. Can you make a tar file of all the output files and post it?

Also, what operating system? 32 or 64 bit?

Thanks--Michael

Hisham,

Please try again. It should work now.

Re: what's wrong with simulation of transport line orbit correct

Shancai,

I ran your simulation but get a different result, which is attached here.

Can you tell me which version of elegant you are using? The one-to-one trajectory correction was updated in the last release, so it might make a difference.

Re: Large Momentum Offsets in ELEGANT

Ray, This should not be a problem if you use KQUAD, KSEXT, and CSBEND elements, which are accurate to all orders in energy deviation. You can also use EDRIFT, which is an exact drift space and is recommended if slopes are large. If you use QUAD, SEXT, and SBEN, it is only good to 2nd order and you m...

Takahiro,

If you want to post your files (or send them to me at borland@aps.anl.gov) I can have a look.

Re: Chromaticity

Takahiro, There are several differences between those two runs, for example, the DA run includes chromaticity correction and large K2 and K3 values on the dipoles. That's why the chromaticities are different. To show how to compare twiss calculations vs delta to tracking vs delta, I modified the chr...

Re: Laser temporal profile for laser Heater

Yuantao,

That feature is available only in a beta version. I'm hoping to release it in a few weeks.

If you need it urgently, let me know and I'll see what I can provide. I think you are building from source, right?

Re: bug in astra2elegant

James,

The only important difference is that astra2elegant will in the future be much faster, as it will be compiled (like astra2sdds) and also write SDDS binary.

Re: bug in astra2elegant

James,

Good point. I actually eliminated this feature in the C-code version of astra2elegant, but will add it back.

Meanwhile, in case anyone needs it, here's an updated version of astra2sdds.c that includes the offset.
