Hello,
Is there a way to pass the number of to a SCRIPT element can have this info (I have a SCRIPT element in a ring and wants it to be on only for certain pass). Likewise in a ring how could I turn off the SCRIPT command when the &closed_orbit is used.
Thank you, -- Philippe.

Thank you Michael. This works fine. Best, -- Philippe.

script taking into account distribution at an earlier time
All, I am trying to simulate a transformation (stochastic cooling) with a script that needs to modify the distribution at a given location (the "kicker" location) given the phase space distribution detected at an upstream location (the "pickup" location). I do this in a ring and need the distributio...

Re: DIPEDGE element or equivalent in ELEGANT?
All, I did figure out the answer to my question. I finally used the right edge angle on the SBENB dipole combined with the DIPEDGE function. I am actually not sure why the DIPEDGE element was introduced in MA -- there might be a subtlety I am not appreciating. Anyway I retract my suggestion to add s...

DIPEDGE element or equivalent in ELEGANT?
Hello, I am converting some MADX files that contain many DIPEDGE elements into ELEGANT. Ideally, I could replace this DIPEDGE element with a matrix transformation as they are linear element. The mad manual does not provide much info beside stating " A thin element describing the edge focusing of a d...

Re: permanent quadrupole
HI Michael, Thank you. This makes sense. What I am trying to do is explore chromatic effects in a linac which incorporates electromagnet and permanent quadrupoles. The way I usually perform such a study is to fit my lattice (electromagnet only) for a given pCentral and then track a beam with differe...

Re: permanent quadrupole
Michael, Thank you for your answer. I did try the KQUAD element but I am puzzled by its behaviour. For instance if I have only KQUAD' elements in my beamline I would expect the pCentral not to affect anything in the results while the po associated to an initial "sddsbeam" to change the focusing prop...

permanent quadrupole
Hello, I am simulating a linac with many quadrupole electromagnets but some sections have permanent-magnet quadrupoles (PMQs). In some instance I vary the beamline energy (by loading different sddsbeam and automatically reseting pCentral to the right energy). I was wondering is there is a way to acc...

Michael,
Thank you very much. Sorry I should have thought about the parenthesis... -- Philippe.

problem with alter_element applied on RFCA element
Hi Michael, Today I noticed an issue with the alter_element when applied to the RFCA element. I have attached a simplified example that reproduces my observation. To reproduce my problem I have prepared two .ele file one as the alter_element command that set the voltage to what it is in the .lte fil...
