Online documentation incomplete: sddsplot

This is not a bug, rather a report of an undocumented feature. The online documentation for sddsplot's overlay command does not mention that one can use p- and q- space factors to scale the overlay independently of the scale of the data being plotted. For instance: sddsplot -col=s,"(ecnx,ecny)" -gra...

&sdds_beam in pelegant requires a binary input file.

When I attempt to use the &sdds_beam command to load in a particle distribution to pelegant, I get an error message: Error: Unable to read ascii file with SDDS_MPI. The sdds file is valid (according to sddscheck); actually doing something with it (e.g. running sddsanalyzebeam on it) also works fine....

Re: Pelegant for Windows - 32 or 64-bit?

Thanks, Bob.

At the moment, I have some MaRIE runs queued up and running; since using eps files is a workable alternative at the moment, I'd rather not interrupt them right now, but I will try this by the end of the week.

Cheers,

Glitch with 64-bit sddsplot

Hi, Bob, I just found one other glitch with the 64-bit sddsplot when attempting to generate image files. I'm posting it here rather than under "bugs" because this is where we started the discussion. Anyway... sddsplot -col=f,FFTfrequency L01-BCb.fft -device=png,onwhite -output=L01-BCb.png will make ...

Re: Pelegant for Windows - 32 or 64-bit?

Bob,

Thanks for the help!

Turns out 8dot3 was enabled for c: but disabled gloablly (?!) so there was the problem.

Changed the global registry flag, reinstalled, and working great.

Cheers,

Re: Pelegant for Windows - 32 or 64-bit?

Hi, Bob, Sorry for the delay ... I've been out since last Friday. Anyway, as far as I can tell the 64-bit version of pelegant is running just fine. In fact, the only things I've had a problem with are sddsplot and sddscontour. If I just type in "sddsplot <enter>" I get the usual help screen. If I en...

Preferred Linux variation for APS codes?

Is there a preferred flavor of Linux for compiling & running the APS accelerator code suite?

Or, perhaps as importantly ... is there a particular release that you would *not* recommend for the APS codes, i.e. because of known quirks or problems of with installation?

Thanks much,

- John L.
