Varying the value of charge

I am tracking the particles to study the beam instability. The lattice file includes charge, impedance files and various watch points and other elements. Every time I vary the value of charge in the lattice file, then perform the tracking. I want to use use &vary element in run file to change the ch...

Re: Different results in pelegant

Yes, it is due to less number of particles. Thanks..

Different results in pelegant

During the tracking of the particles for instability study in the ring using pelegant (2019.1.1, Jun 27 2019), I am getting different results, when I am selecting 1node 32processors and 5nodes and 1 processor(per node). In one case vertical emittance is blowing, while in another it is stable. What i...

Re: Pelegant is taking too much time

How should we select the optimum number of nodes and and optimium number of processors to track the single bunch in a storage ring to study the single bunch instabilities. I have taken number of particles 100000 in a bunch and tracking 500000 turns.

Re: Tracking a beam coming from linac in to booster

Thanks..I had tracked up to 10 Lakh turns. Correcting the RF frequency and clean command actually worked well.. Thank you vey much..

Tracking a beam coming from linac in to booster

I have generated a linac output bunch (single) by the command &bunched_beam. &bunched_beam n_particles_per_bunch = 20000, emit_x = 60e-09, sigma_dp = 0.005, sigma_s = 0.15, emit_y = 60e-09, beta_x = 15.83, alpha_x=2.6589, beta_y = 5.45, alpha_y=-0.9191, eta_x = 0.27655, etap_x=-0.0468, enforce_rms_v...

Re: Study of TMCI

I could locate the error...The lattice is having non zero values of alphax, alphay and etapx. I was not assigning these parameters any values in my input files and hence by default, code is reading them as zero and hence emittance blowing..

Re: Study of TMCI

Dear Dr. Borland, I am tracking the beam (single bunch) through the Ring1 lattice without any impedance but the horizontal emittance, energy spread and bunch length is keep on increasing with the number of turns, while vertical emittance is nearly constant. I have configured the RF with the paramete...

Re: Study of TMCI

Thanks a lot for your quick help. As per your suggestion, I will increase the number of particles in the simulation. I have a doubt about Ra. For a given value of Z_longitudinal/n in a storage ring, what value of Ra should be fixed for the input of zlongit ? I have calculated the Ra to be given as a...

Re: Study of TMCI

Thanks a lot..It worked. To simulate the microwave instability, I have used the elegant functions ILMATRIX, SREFFETCS, RFCA and ZLONGIT in the above files but the elegant tracking result gives an underestimated value (~0.1mA) of microwave threshold. I have doubt whether I have chosen the correct fun...
