Algorithm for higher order chromaticity computations

I would like to understand what elegant does in order to compute the values of higher-order chromaticity, but I encountered a lot of difficulties in understanding the following manual's entry: higher_order_chromaticity -- If nonzero, requests computation of the second- and third-order chromaticity. ...

Integral minimization

Hello,

I would like to minimize the integral of Beta/Energy along a linac. Is there a smart way to do this, let's say without putting a MARK at every quad?

Many thanks.

Re: Can't access to sij at fitpoint markers

Just a note as I spent a lot of time wondering why: MARK#1.Sx was giving a much smaller value than: MARK#1.betax emittance_x * sqrt This was happening because of the default cuts at 2 sigmas and the low number of particles (1000) that I was using. Increasing the cuts the first value converged to the...

Matrix output and initial dispersion

Hello, I'm studying a FODO for a bent transfer line. In the *.ele I have twiss_output followed by matrix_output. If I call twiss_output with matched=1 I obviously obtain an initial dispersion which is not considered by matrix_output and the R56 coming out is wrong. The only workaround I found is pla...

Suggested compression for SDDS files

I would like to make a suggestion for the SDDS code. I noticed that in multiple pages SDDS files the redundancy is quite high. For example I have a .par file which contains 1500 pages. In each page a set of misalignment is used and correctors are set to reduce the orbit; well, this file is 275MB and...

Concatenating more files

As I expected now I need to concatenate three files. I modified the command putting it in a bash script which concatenate any number of files in a single page file with continuous s coordinate. The output file is named: "concat. ext " where ext is the extension of the first file. Here it is, If anyo...

Can't access to sij at fitpoint markers

I'm making a match based on the beam size and I'd like to access to the quantity s11 (alias sigma_x) of a marker. I defined the beam before the &optimize command. Unlikely I keep getting : unknown token: MID_INJ#1.s11 At the moment I'm using this workaround: MID_INJ#1.betaxBeam emittance_x * sqrt An...

Re: R56 dependance on a cavity voltage

Dear Michael,

sorry for my ignorance. Your replies are helping me a lot. I have never been able to find a book or an article where 6D-transport matrices are discussed especially for cavities, if you have one, please, suggest it to me.

Thank you

Re: R56 dependance on a cavity voltage

I noticed that the R56 changes also varying the phase of the cavity at constant voltage.
It is not changed by the cavity itself, but changing the parameters of the cavity the R56 gets a different behaviour in the dipoles that follow.

This seems very weird to me :?
