Re: beam current ramping

Chao, The recirculation element is to allow setup steps to take place prior to multi-turn tracking in a ring. The original inspiration was to allow tracking through a transport line and injection elements, followed by multi-turn tracking. Although the feature is kept for backward compatibility, it ...

Re: beam current ramping

Chao, The problem is that your CHARGE element is downstream of a recirculation element (RC). So the beam only sees the CHARGE element on the first pass through the beamline. I don't think you need the recirculation element. --Michael Thanks Michael, Great thanks for your answers. I got it. For a fu...

beam current ramping

Dear Michael, I am tying to make a test run which ramps the beam current in the first several hundreds turns. Somehow, not be able to do that. The attached files shows the script I prepared, could you please take a look and help me to fix it. PS: I found that the output of the &ramp_elements command...

Re: simulation speed when there are multi-bunches and muti-IBS element

Chao, I wonder if in the case using bunch duplication you are setting the use_bunched_mode flag? I would expect using N bunches to slow things down, because there is N times as much interprocess communication (assuming that IBS is a dominant factor in the simulation). --Michael Thanks for your expl...

Re: simulation speed when there are multi-bunches and muti-IBS element

Dear Michael, I think I found the reason why the simulation speed is not well scaled in my simulation. It seems like that comes from the settings of particleID. When I prepare the simulation, I prepare the multi-bunches externally, in which I ensure that each particle has a unique particleID. In thi...

Re: model of ring by several ilmatrix elements?

Dear Michael

Thanks for your explanation. I also checked the elegant source code about the IBS and TScatter element.
As you described, it is clear.

Thanks again.
yours Chao

simulation speed when there are multi-bunches and muti-IBS element

Dear Michael, Recently, we are trying to simulate the multi-bunch together with multi-IBS scatter element. We are trying to see the computation efficiency of the for different scenarios. The 6 cases we studied are 1. 80 bunches, (load in &sdds_beam command and data is separated by page), and each bu...

Re: model of ring by several ilmatrix elements?

Dear Michael, Thanks for your reply. I realized that I probably asked wrong questions in my last post. To make less confusion, I deleted the last post and summarize my question in this post. The question is in elegant computing, what these two elements (ibsscatter and TSCscater) do to affect particl...

model of ring by several ilmatrix elements?

Dear Michael , I am modelling a storage as two ILmatrix elements and the twiss parameters of there two ilmatrix elements are the same. For a test set, I keep dispersion, dispersion prime and chromaticity to zero for simplicity. Then I have two lattices as lattice A: ring = ilmatirx lattice B: ring =...

Re: RFCW element

Dear Michael,

I got the answer of my previous post.
Change KQUAD element to Quad and limit transfer matrix order to 1. The emittance growth in linac is gone.

Thanks a lot.
