We found the problem. It was a missing comma in the cavity definition.

Phase space linearization
Dear elegant users and experts, we were trying to simulate our third harmonic cavity and we did have some troubles... We can not see the expected effects on the longitudinal phase space after switching on the the third harmonic cavity (3.9 GHz). Does one of you have any solution for our problem? Our...

save_parameters command in elegant
Dear elegant users and experts, I have a further question concerning my elegant optimizations. In a conference proceeding from ICAP2000 (in Darmstadt/Germany) from Michal there was introduced a "save_parameters command which writes an SDDS file that can be used with load_parameters to restore the co...

Re: Matching problems (R36,R46 and R56)
Hi Michael,
thanks for your help! I will now optimize with first order matrices as far as possible and switch then to second order for the optimization and for the final elegant run.
Best regards,
Matthias

Matching problems (R36,R46 and R56)
Dear elegant users and experts, I’m optimizing the beam line layout of an extraction section where an electron beam can be distributed at the end of a linac to two FEL beam lines. A solution that fulfills all constraints was found before; however, I’m trying to improve the layout to reduce chromatic...

Simplex Algorithm
Dear all, The simplex optimization method is recommended in the elegant manual. I used it for the optimization of an extraction arc and it worked fine. However, I was wondering if you could tell my why the simplex method is recommended and not any other optimization algorithm. Is it the fact that th...

Re: Vertical offset for collimators
Hi Michael,
thanks for your help!
I use now ECOL elements with zero length and spaces in between (as you recommended) and it works fine.
Regards, Matthias
