Pelegant error: passed size is not equal to expected size for SDDS_DATASET structure
Dear all, I've just compiled from source the latest elegant version 2023.4.0 & SDDS.5.6, on a cluster with almalinux 9, the GCC version is 11.4.1 20231218, and the MPICH version is mpich-4.2.1 elegant runs fine. But when I run a simple Pelegant example that computes the elegant example/parallel/DA w...

Re: Misalignment of a tilted csbend
Hi Michael,
I modified the source files csbend.c and malign_mat.c as attached (based on elegant-2021.1.0), as a potential correction to the bug. Please let me know if these corrections make sense. Thanks!
Best,
Zhe

Misalignment of a tilted csbend
Hi Michael, In the latest version of elegant, If I set MALIGN_METHOD to 1 or 2, using M. Venturini's modeling approach, but setting the misalignment errors DX, DY, DZ, ETILT, EYAW, EPITCH all to zero, the tracking of initial zero orbit coordinate through a tilted csbend by design (ETILT is zero, whi...

Open side in MAXAMP
Hi Michael,
When I set the "open_side" of MAXAMP, I need to specify both X_MAX and Y_MAX, to make the open_side setting take effect. If I only specify one of X_MAX & Y_MAX, it appears "open_side" is ignored. I guess this is somehow misleading. Please see the attached example.
Best,
Zhe

Re: sddsplot issue in macOS 10.14
Hi, I spent some time recompiling SDDS on my Mac OS 10.15.6. Following Gregg's approach, I did brew install --cask xquartz & then brew install openmotif This installed XQuartz 2.8.1 and openmotif 2.3.8 After that, I had to modify epics/extensions/configure/os/CONFIG_SITE.darwin-x86.darwin-x86 changi...

Re: sddsplot issue in macOS 10.14
Hi Soliday,
Are there any updates regarding the solution of the sddsplot issue as I mentioned in this post, on macOS 10.14 or later versions?
Thanks!
Best,
Zhe

Off-momentum of a storage ring by offset the RF frequency
Hi Michael and all, I'm trying to offset the RF frequency of a storage ring and to observe the influence on closed orbit & equilibrium beam parameters. However, in the attached example, Cs in the %s.fin file did show the change of circumference due to the change of RF frequency, while the closed orb...

How to properly fiducialize an RFMODE element
Hi Michael, I'm trying to simulate a bunch injecting into an empty booster. I use a two-page bunch distribution in the tracking, the first page is a single-particle bunch for fiducialization, so that the second page can be the real bunch with a specified temporal error. However, RFMODE seems to accu...

Frequency feedback loop of RFMODE
Hi Michael, I wonder if it is possible to add the resonant frequency control loop in RFMODE. Since now piezo electric tuners are quite widely used in RF cavities, their response is quite fast. Sometimes it might be interesting to investigate their influence in the modeling of beam loading effects. T...
