Photoinjector Experiments:  Measurement of Thermal Emittance and Femtosecond Time Structure

William S. Graves, Brookhaven National Laboratory

The DUVFEL facility at BNL is based on a 200 MeV electron linac with Ti:Sapphire drive laser, 1.6 cell RF photoinjector with copper cathode, and chicane bunch compressor.  Recent experiments have focused on beam-based characterization of the photoinjector, linac, and laser pulse structure.  Some of the results that will be presented are measurement of the RMS thermal emittance of 0.6 pi mm-mrad, comparison of measured beam dynamics with simulation, and both time and frequency domain bunch length measurements with resolution of 50 fs.
