Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the Scientific Theme Leaders and myself, I invite you to join us for the First Users Meeting for the Center for Nanoscale Materials, (CNM) which will be held on May 3-4, 2004.  This meeting will provide a forum for CNM users to share exciting new results, broaden and create contacts within the user community, and, above all, help shape the capabilities and operation of the CNM.  We anticipate that researchers from all aspects of nanoscience will want to participate in the CNM Users Meeting.

Participants will hear from world-class experts about topics ranging from chemical and biological nanoscale materials to nanomagnetism. Attendees will learn about current and expected capabilities at the CNM, as well as how to apply for early access time.  Most important, researchers will have the opportunity to interact with other nanoscientists from around the world and meet one-on-one with leaders in nanoscience instrument development.

Argonne's Center for Nanoscale Materials is one of five Nanoscale Science Research Centers established by the U.S Department of Energy to promote fabrication of nanoscale materials for the advancement of science and technology.  The CNM is the focal point for a variety of scientific collaborations with academia, industry and other government laboratories that will broaden the user community and help spur the development of products based on nanomaterials.

Eric Isaacs
CNM Director
