  • Assistant Professor, Department of Physics and Applied Physics Program, University of Michigan, 2001-present.

Background

  • Post-doctoral fellow, Center for Ultrafast and Optical Sciences, University of Michigan 1999-2001
  • Ph.D. Physics and Astronomy, University of Rochester, 1999
  • B.A. Physics, University of California, Berkeley, 1993

Activities

  • Organizer of Workshop on Ultrafast X-ray Science
  • Member, MHATT-CAT, sector 7
  • Member American Physical Society and Optical Society of America
  • FOCUS center co-PI.

Interests

  • My research is in material dynamics studied by time-resolved x-ray diffraction and the manipulation of structure on ultrafast time-scales. I am deeply interested in promoting the usage and increasing the capabilities of 3rd generation synchrotrons for time domain studies. I am also a member of the SPPS collaboration and active in the 4th gerneration light source community. My background is in the application of high power, short pulse, lasers for high energy, accelerator, and x-ray physics.
