Distributed Instrument Control on the DND-CAT Beamlines at the APS.

Even though the DND-CAT beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source are still in the
commissioning phase, we have had over one hundred users pass through our
facility performing a variety of experiments including EXAFS, powder diffraction
crystallography, imaging, and small angle scattering. In order to accomodate
this wide variety of experiments, we have developed and are continuing
to develop a distributed instrument control system called SCIPE
(Simple Control Interface Protocol for Experimenters). We will present
an outline of the as well as our experience to date.
