IPNS is currently working toward an upgrade of our data acquisition system hardware/software. Our current CAMAC/Multibus hardware will be replaced by newly designed VXI modules. The new modules provide time and position information from lookup tables that are processed by on board FPGAs. Thedetector interface to the FPGA has been placed on a daughter card so that the front end electronics can be flexible. We believe this flexibility will allow a base board to adopt multiple personalities by changing daughter boards and the FPGA code. We are using EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) to provide flexible network based control of the acquisition system and beamline control.
