Title of Presentation:

Rigid, Adjustable Support of Aligned Elements via Six Struts

Abstract:

The subject of determining the position of accelerator components with ever increasing accuracy receives a great deal of attention, as it should. Techniques for reliably locating and keeping these components in their ideal positions are also important. At Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's Advanced Light Source, extensive use has been made of six-strut support systems for the rigid, convenient, and precisely adjustable location of accelerator components. These cost-effective systems save many hours of alignment technician work and often achieve natural frequencies above 20 Hz. The current system of standardized metric strut components allows volume fabrication of all but the custom-length strut bodies.
