Alignment of the Superconducting Cryostat for the Tesla Test Facility

Abstract:

The TTF at DESY in Hamburg is now installed. Instead of four cryo- modules only one was mounted for the preliminary runs. The main problem was the alignment of the cavity-string for the module. It is attached to the He-gas return pipe, which can be aligned with respect to the tank. The cavity-axes should be vertically below the return pipe axis and coincide with the tank axis. All alignment steps, the reached accuracy and the necessary fiducials are discussed in detail.
