The Poisson Alignment Reference System


Abstract:

Fourth Generation Light Sources demand tight positioning tolerances over long periods of time. In 1987 L. Griffith from LLNL proposed to utilize the poisson spot created by a sphere in the beam path of coherent light for the alignment and long term monitoring of an FEL. This poster shows the principal of such a system, first results and how it can be applied to a linear accelerator.
