Argonne National Laboratory and the conference hotels are about 45 minutes by car from each of the two major Chicago airports, O'Hare and Midway (click here to see map). Limousine service is available from each airport, and major car rental agencies serve both airports. Limo reservations can be made by calling

The map also shows the major roadways serving the Chicago area. To reach Argonne from O'Hare Airport, drive east (toward Chicago) on Interstate 190 to the exit for Interstate 294 south (toward Indiana). Go south on Interstate 294 to the exit for Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis); then take the southbound Cass Avenue exit (273A) off Interstate 55. Northgate Road, the entrance to the Laboratory's main gate and Visitor Reception Center is on the right (click here to see Argonne map). From Midway Airport, take Cicero Avenue north to the entrance to Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis), which will be on your left, then proceed as described above.
The new 273-bed Argonne Guest House, located less than a quarter of a mile from the APS, has been reserved for this meeting. Single rooms with queen-sized beds and double rooms with twin beds are available. In addition, the Guest House has 16 quads, which are units with four single bedrooms, two baths, a sitting room, and kitchenette. For this meeting, one quad has been assigned to each Collaborative Access Team. Four CAT members will be booked into the quad; other CAT members will be placed on the same floor, if desired. The Guest House is operated by Marriott Corporation and has a number of amenities, including a sundry shop, laundry facilities, a lounge with a competition-sized billiard table, and fiber-optic connections from every sleeping room to the APS experiment hall.
Rooms have also been reserved at the Budgetel and Fairfield Inns, which are located near the intersection of I-55 and Illinois Route 83 (click here to see map). Rooms will be assigned as registrations are received. The cut-off date for hotel reservations at the special conference rate is March 31, 1997. After that date, rooms will be assigned only on an "as-available" basis.
Shuttle bus service will be provided from the off-site hotels on Tuesday-Thursday mornings to Argonne National Laboratory; buses will return in the evening to the hotels. Bus service will also be provided from Argonne National Laboratory to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for the banquet on Wednesday, April 16, 1997.
