
Travel and Housing Arrangements
Argonne National Laboratory and the conference hotels are about 45 minutes by car from each of the two major Chicago airports, O'Hare and Midway (click here for map). Limousine service is available from each airport, and major car rental agencies serve both airports. Limo reservations can be made by calling

The map also shows the major roadways serving the Chicago area. To reach Argonne from O'Hare Airport, drive east (toward Chicago) on Interstate 190 to the exit for Interstate 294 south (toward Indiana). Go south on Interstate 294 to the exit for Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis); then take the southbound Cass Avenue exit (273A) off Interstate 55. Northgate Road, the entrance to the Laboratory's main gate and Visitor Reception Center is on the right. From Midway Airport, take Cicero Avenue north to the entrance to Interstate 55 south (toward St. Louis), which will be on your left, then proceed as described above.
Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the Willowbrook Holiday Inn, the Budgetel Inn, the Fairfield Inn (all of which are located near the intersection of I-55 and Illinois Route 83; click here for map). Please indicate your preference on the registration form (p. 11) of this booklet. Rooms will be assigned as registrations are received. The cut-off date for hotel reservations at the special conference rate is July 15, 1996. After that date, rooms will be available only on an "as-available" basis.
Shuttle bus service will be provided from all hotels on Sunday-Wednesday mornings to Argonne National Laboratory; buses will return in the evening to the hotels. Bus service will also be provided from Argonne National Laboratory to Navy Pier in Chicago for the banquet on Monday, August 5, 1996.
