Dear Colleague:

It is my pleasure to invite you to the Seventh Beam Instrumentation Workshop to be held at Argonne National Laboratory near Chicago, Illinois on May 6-9, 1996. Please join us to discuss recent developments in beam diagnostic systems at a number of the leading accelerator facilities. The workshop organizing committee is planning another informative conference, with a strong slate of tutorial and invited speakers.

This year's program includes four tutorial sessions, four invited speakers, a presentation by the winner of the Faraday Cup Award, contributed oral papers, poster papers, a vendor display, open discussion sessions on topics of interest to the attendees, and a tour of the recently constructed Advanced Photon Source (APS).

The workshop will be held at the new Advanced Photon Source Conference Center at Argonne National Laboratory. The Marriott Oak Brook Hotel is located strategically in a suburb between the conference center and Chicago. Downtown Chicago's visitor attractions include the Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum of Natural History, Cubs and White Sox baseball, the Chicago Symphony, theater, etc.

I look forward to seeing you in "Chicagoland."

Sincerely,Alex H. Lumpkin
